Track Competition Rules

2025 updated rules for racers, crew & ride-alongs. 125 MPH speed limit enforced (1/8 mi).

Racers

  • Every vehicle must pass tech and get teched in at each event · mufflers required.
  • At least one rear functioning taillight · functioning neutral safety switch.
  • Faster than 6.39 ET (1/8) requires current NHRA license & chassis certification.
  • Running NOS, alcohol or E85 must notify tech.
  • No one may hold or touch cars during burnouts.
  • Proper race clothing mandatory — no shorts, tank tops or open-toe shoes.
  • All drivers sign waiver and wear racer wristband on left wrist at all times.
  • SNELL 2015+ mandatory for all vehicles and passengers.

Crew Members

  • Maximum 2 crew per race car from burnout area to start line.
  • All crew go to tech with the driver, sign the waiver, get a special crew wristband.
  • Print and sign at the bottom of the racer's tech sheet · leave once the car crosses the finish.

If too many people crowd the racing area, all racing stops until cleared. Don't be that guy/girl to cause a delay!

Ride Alongs

  • Must be 16+ · allowed only during time trials · stock seat-belt cars only.
  • Must wear a SNELL 2015+ helmet · go to tech with car, sign waiver, get a ride-along wristband.

One Vehicle, Two Racers & General

  • Each racer pays separate entry, completes their own tech sheet, brings their own 2 crew.
  • Noise restrictions apply · all vehicles need seatbelts · no motorcycles at this time.
  • Night events: at least one headlight and one tail light · all lug nuts in place.
  • No fluid leaks · good tires (no wire, cord or dry rot) · coolant overflow reservoir.
  • Neutral safety switch · two throttle springs on carbureted vehicles.
  • Convertibles need a roll bar to race top-down · windows up while racing · battery secured.
  • Absolutely no racing under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Staging Rules

  • No strollers, babies or young children in staging lanes. No minors allowed.
  • A staging director directs movement — no car starts or moves until directed.
  • No heavy mechanical work in lanes — major repairs go back to the pit area.
  • Don't leave a car unattended · no dogs · no A/C use in staging lanes.
  • Worried about a pairing or your experience? Ask the director for a solo pass — welcome for new racers.
  • In the lanes when staging closes = you run. Not in the lanes = you don't enter.
  • Director may pair for an even race unless you request otherwise.

Starting Line Rules

Only two crew at a time on the starting line. Racer wristbands do NOT allow you on the line — crewing requires a pit crew wristband. Only 2 pit crew per vehicle, strictly enforced.

  • Water box and burnout optional · stop before the box and wait to be directed in.
  • Never staged before? Tell the starter — he'll gladly assist.
  • Past the beams? Back fully out and make your last movement forward to reset.
  • No burnouts past the starting line · no burndowns — long delay and the race starts without you.
  • Deep staging? "DEEP" must be legible on the front windshield.

On Track Surface Rules

  • Problem down track? Move to the wall instantly. Possibly leaking? Do not continue.
  • No stopping in the shutdown to repack a chute or wait on a tow — clear the top end.
  • Night events: rear light must be red and visible from start to track exit.
  • No locking brakes at the finish to make MPH/ET limits — warning, then spectator or ejection. No refunds.
  • Car gets loose? Lift, correct, come back and line up — most incidents are from not lifting.
  • Stay in your lane — don't cross or touch the center line. The starter's call is final.
  • See a hazard? Tell the time-shack ASAP. Red emergency lights flashing? Shut down until resolved.
